Hi, I’m Kimberlin LeÓn.
I’m a California-based Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides trauma-informed mental health therapy for youth, adults, and families.
I completed EMDR Basic Training in October 2024 and am now offering EMDR therapy.
For now, all services are provided virtually.
Education & training
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), February 2024
Master of Social Work (MSW), University of California, Berkeley, 2019
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Honors, University of San Francisco, 2013
I have over ten years of experience providing mental health services to adolescents, adults, and families who have experienced a wide range of trauma, including sexual and physical abuse, exploitation, substance use, mental health crises, foster care involvement, incarceration, systemic oppression, spiritual abuse, and grief.
I am also experienced in supporting people facing day-to-day challenges such as life transitions, school and job stress, and relational challenges.
Values
As someone who holds both privileged and marginalized identities, I engage in ongoing self-reflection to support continual growth and to minimize potential harm in my work as a provider.
I affirm people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious creeds, physical abilities, and beyond.
A bit about me.
I grew up in East San José, California, in a vibrant immigrant community overflowing with playfulness, rhythm, and resilience.
The love and sacrifice of my family enabled me to pursue my dreams, becoming the first woman in my family to complete high school, college, and grad school. I was inspired to pursue a career in counseling after spending two years working with elementary and junior high school students in Nagano, Japan, who taught me the healing power of relationships.
I use she/her pronouns and identify as a woman of color with Filipino and Mexican ancestry. I feel alive hiking with my loved ones, salsa dancing, and enjoying my favorite cuisine—Japanese Hot Pot.
Modalities
I draw on psychodynamic theory, attachment science, and anti-oppressive care in my work, bringing a warm, genuine, and directive approach. From this stance, I integrate the following interventions:Pain-in-the-Heart Therapy

In addition to my private therapy practice, I have worked as a social worker for a nonprofit organization supporting formerly incarcerated adults, including individuals who have experienced wrongful conviction, and as an Assistant Language Teacher in rural Japan.
